Shelly Smellies Smelly Squares and Breakaway Wax Melts are handcrafted in London, Ontario, Canada. We use nothing but the best undiluted fragrances found in the country.  All wax melt products are maximum scented and made with 100% organic soy wax from The American Soy Organics Company.

Shelly Smellies is a home based business owned and operated by myself, Shelly Scapinello.   I'll be honest with you, I haven't always been a "strictly soy wax melt" kinda girl.  For many years I was a scented paraffin wax melt junkie.   It didn't matter what brand, shape, size or colour as long as it smelled good and had a good scent throw.  I prefer scented wax melts above all else, and I'll be the first to admit, I was a huge fan with a huge addiction to that "other brand".

Unlike myself, my significant other found my wax melts to be anything but pleasant.  I can not count how many times over the years I was told to "Put that shit out, I'm eating it!" or "Put that shit out, it's giving me a headache!".  On many other occassions it was just a plain ole' "Put that shit out!".  Yes, I'm sure you get the idea and I'm positive some of you have been subjected to the same complaint or request at one time or another.

On January 16th, 2015, my paraffin wax melt days were over for good thanks to my neighbour.  She had spied me the day before with my "brand name" bag in hand, and with a look of pure disgust she immediately started telling me how crazy I was for burning that "shit".  I just stood there in the middle of the sidewalk with a blank look on my face and thought, "Wow, doesn't that sound familiar??"  She approached and continued on by explaining all the differences between burning with soy wax and paraffin wax whilst guiding me into her home so she could place (bless her heart, it was more like shove) some soy wax melts into my hands.

At the time, I had little to no interest at all in her soy wax melts.  You see, I had just come back from a huge shopping spree and was standing there with over forty paraffin wax melts in my bag.  Everything she said went in one ear and out the other, but I kindly took her melts and hurried home to burn my own personal favourite, giving her melts not a second thought for the rest of the night.  The next morning I did the honorable thing by trying one and I haven't looked back since.

I was completely overwhelmed by the differences!! First thing I noticed right off the bat was the cleaner scent. I couldn't smell anything but the fragrance itself.  Wow!!  What a treat that was!  So much so that I went online that same day and ordered myself a soy wax candle kit so I could start making my own.  Believe it or not, I gave those forty plus paraffin wax melts away to a good friend of mine.  And the boyfriend you ask? Well I'm estatic to report that he is now my best customer and biggest supporter!   I haven't heard the words "Put that shit out!"  in over a year now.  It's been great!  He's even gone so far as to buying his own wax melt burner and scents for the basement rec room.   I don't mind saying that I'm still finding it rather hard to believe!

Over the past year my views (and senses) about paraffin wax have changed immensely.  As a matter of fact, "I seriously can't believe I was using that "shit" all those years!!"  I take one sniff of a paraffin wax melt now and the first thing hitting my senses is the paraffin chemical mix.  A very unpleasant smell to say the least, and I can't help but wonder why I've never noticed it before.  And I know my neighbour is getting a little tired of hearing it, but I still thank her everytime I see her for putting me on the right path with soy wax melts.
